The Mama’s and The Papa’s, ‘California Dreamin’, playing on my father’s record player. The Summer Of Love in the Haight; patchouli, poetry, protest. Road trips down Highway 1, the calming Pacific, Sausalito boat houses and the Berkeley slow-food movement, my second home will always have my heart.

“THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE NEW YORK AIR THAT MAKES SLEEP USELESS.” - SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR
At 22, New York was (to me), an odyssey I wasn’t sure I’d survive. At 32, bored and cynical, New York was just grind and repeat. All work, no joy. Present day, New York is nothing if not a series of brilliant contrasts: Hard but soft. Tough but gentle. Ugly but beautiful. Busy but lonely. Energizing but calming. And, it has finally become ‘Home.’
Photographs from San Sebastian and Bilbao, 2016.
